I’m Bianca, a junior at Penn
studying Artificial Intelligence.

I’m from Romania. My interests tend to wander across disciplines: from mathematical reasoning, machine learning, and AI safety to neuroscience, photography, the history of religion, and the ways people connect. This is a place to keep some of those threads together.

here’s how they meet

Everything is connected.
Somehow.

Things I study.
Things I keep wondering about.

Research Assistant

Human–Computer Interaction Lab · University of Pennsylvania

Mathematical concept graphs for LLM reasoning

  • Built a Python system for theorem dependencies across algebra and algebraic-geometry papers, with JSON storage for nodes, edges, and metadata.
  • Combined LLM-curated relationships with breadth-first traversal of citation networks using the Perplexity and Semantic Scholar APIs.
  • Compared no-context, keyword-clustered, and graph-context prompts through the OpenAI API.

Teaching Assistant & Course Development Assistant

Computer and Information Science · University of Pennsylvania

Discrete mathematics

  • Taught undergraduate and graduate recitations and office hours in logic, proofs, probability, graph theory, and combinatorics.
  • Designed master’s-level problem sets and course materials, turning abstract ideas into clear learning objectives.
  • Worked with a course staff of more than 20 on grading, regrades, and lab supervision, and helped revise policies addressing AI coding agents.
May 2022 – April 2023

Junior Researcher

National Institute of Physical Chemistry · Bucharest, Romania

Computational analysis & biomedical research

  • Studied stochastic sensors for early cancer detection using statistical modeling and MATLAB analysis of experimental data.
  • Co-developed the MATLAB implementation of an eight-criterion morphometric algorithm for breast-cancer bone-metastasis risk stratification.
  • Co-authored a 2023 Diagnostics article, with a software contribution documented in the published author credits.

01 / beyond the screen

Looking more closely.

Photography, language, the history of religion, and human connection. The things that make me pause, and often change the questions I bring back to my work.

02 / something I keep returning to

Lean, and the meaning of a proof.

A language for writing mathematics precisely enough that a computer can check it. Both a research tool and a very good reason to think carefully.
